The Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships is held from 19-25 May at Glasgow, Scotland involving most of the countries previously under the British Empire (United Kingdom) like Algeria, Australia, India, Malaysia, Singapore etc. (In total, I think there are around 53 countries).

This event is organised by the Table Tennis Scotland and Culture and Sport Glasgow under the authority granted by the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation. Top players from these countries included the current Scottish champion, Gavin Rumgay, who has just returned from the World Championships in Yokohama, Japan and Ning Gao, the Commonwealth #1 table tennis player.

Singapore just entered into the women team semi-final.

Now this tournament is almost over, does anybody know who is the winner. I think this tournament is more like Olympics to countries like India. Sharat Kamal became a world class player from one of the previous common wealth games.

The men doubles was won by Subhajit Saha & Sharath Kamal Achanta and was seeded as No. 2 against Singapore top seed Gao Ning and Yang Zi .

I believe the top 5 countries for table tennis among the commonwealth countries are Singapore & India for men with Australia, England & Canada making up the balance while the top 3 countries for women is Singapore, India & Malaysia.
