Another ITTF Junior Circuit will be held in Indore, India this week.
The two local young players who is spear-heading India are Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Soumyajit Ghosh. Both of them excelled on the ITTF Pro Tour in February at the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open and the Qatar Open by recording fine wins against more experienced adversaries and proved they were very much at home on the senior stage.
They are leading a new generation of very promising young players from the sub continent. Over the years many talented players have emerged from India; in such events as the Commonwealth Championships they have stood proudly on the highest step of the medal rostrum but in World events, they have fallen short. A good example is the Asian Junior Championships where they threatened but was overwhelmed by the mights of established table tennis nations as China, Korea and Japan.
The Indian Junior Open will feature both teams and singles events in the junior and cadet age group categories and is part of the ITTF Junior Circuit. The Indian Table Tennis Association offers a total of 15,000 $ (USD) in prize money, with no tax deduction.
