Chinese Penhold Players

Postby 729 fx » Mon Oct 05, 2009 9:34 pm

Very rarely we see Chinese penhold players play defensively. I guess it is the way they are train to play, ie loop first and smash next or push first till opponent return the ball slightly longer for a looping stroke and followed by more spinning loops or a killer drive.

Wang Hao never plays defensively.
Ma Lin - although not aggresive or offensive as Wang Hao, he still try to give a slow loop to set up for the next strike. Ma Lin sometimes played the chop during longer rally when he is out of position.
Xu Xin - the left-hand penholder also plays offense most of the times.

Any other penholders from China? Most of the younger players like Zhangzike, Ma Long etc are shakehanders.

Penholder used to be able to chop. Now with the bigger and heavier 40mm balls spin is less of a threat chopping with ph is possible. Can there be a Joo type of ph player? Not impossible!

There could be a Joo type of ph player but has not been "unearthed" as yet. Anyway, I agree with ejunkie that it is not impossible to have such a player.
