Dawei DR-2

Was playing with this 3-ply soft wood blade for the last 3 months (used it as my 3rd racket, now sold it off to a friend who is a table tennis beginner). I placed a LKT Pro XP rubber (black 2.0mm) on it and plays around the duration of two and a half months (twice a week). It is considered as a ALL blade.

Look & Feel:

The craftsmanship on the woodwork is alright, better than the Galaxy(or YinHE) brand but not very high quality like teh Xiom or Nittaku or Butterfly brands. The surface is even. And I like the bright yellow finishing – it gives the blade a clean look. The handle is made of cork material and is comfortable to hold. (Note : This is a J-pen blade).

I was told there were 2 types of handle - one made of wood and the other of cork.

Weight: This blade is light. (sorry, I do not have any blade weighting machine to test)

Play:

1) Serve: Slow serves are excellent with this blade due to its lightness. For fast serves, I need to put more arm strength to produce the speed for this blade.
2) Block: Good, especially over the table blocks. Off-table blocking/countering will need some push (additional force) to get the ball where I want.
3) Loop: Very good for all kind of looping - control looping, power looping.(Need to adjust my arm strength as this blade is considered as ALL).

Summary: This blade is good for an all-round play. Good for control, especially close table play. I would rate this blade as an ALL ( using Butterfly category), all-round which means can go on the offensive as well as defensive. This blade is suitable for those who plays an all-round game (defensive/offensive).
