8mm is quite thick for an offensive Butterfly blade. Butterfly don't like to make any thick blades. I have several thicker blades like the R1 and Dr N Combi Effect and the thickness don't affect me much.

I read some said this blade was in the market early 90s and discontinued in early 00 (2002)... one guy said he had one 15 years ago (1994) that's the oldest i read about this blade... another guy had one 10 years ago...

Amazing craftsmanship. I think I have come across this blade while I was researching on the Hinoki blades. The hinoki being used in this may be the Kiso from Japan. I don't think Butterfly has invested any time on making Hinoki blades except last year when the speed glue was getting banned.

Do you get any kind of smell from this blade as you get from the Hinoki blade?

yes, a bit of that sweet hinoki smell... :P

actually i think bty has made several hinoki blades even before last year, namely the jonyer hinoki, kiso hinoki v & vii, and also a few on the j-pens...

only recently bty came out with the senkoh series for handshake, and also the all hinoki series (possibly to replace the kiso hinoki series)...

jonyer hinoki has been dwindling in the recent years and now bty is coming out with the new version of jonyer hinoki... i think jonyer speed or something like that...

By the look of it I think this blade is faster than a Korbel, but how does the control compares?

This was one nice blade from Butterfly from the 90s. Amazing craftsmanship and look at the wood grain. The hinoki being used in this may be the first grade Kiso hinoki from Japan.

Nice pictures from rokphish.
