The main difference between the Donic Waldner and Persson is the speed. The Waldner is rated ALL+ for control and the Persson is OFF-. The Appelgren is the slowest of the three, rated ALL.

I agree with eJunkie on the speed. The DONIC Persson will have the highest speed, the Waldner will have little more less and the Appelgren has the least in three.

In my opinion, all three blades have excellent control irrespective of the speed. You have to find the safe zone (please read my blog about safe zone) though.

All these three blades have balsa. I have not tried the Waldner or Appelgren blades, but I can estimate that you will get more soft feeling out of the Persson blade. The Waldner will be surely a topspin blade, so the outer layer would be limba. That adds a little of hardness in feeling. The Appelgren would be medium hard in feeling. Since you have used TSP BalsaPlus 5.5, in donic the blade that fit may be Dotec Persson considering the speed and loop angle.

The rumor I have heard is that the dotec series is the best selling in donic series. I have done a poll to some stores and found the Appelgren is in great demand. It may due to it's special handle. When I have played with that handle, it has helped me top spin very good. However I had problem in twiddling. Someone who has a good backhand loop will benefit from the angle. The dotec series sets the blade angle for you for a two wing game.

The weight of TSP BalsaFiber series are very low like 73 to 76 gm. The dotec series will be higher than that. Also the TSP BalsaFiber series is a fiber blade. You are moving towards a pure wooden blade, so the feeling would be different.

I like the soft feeling, so if I could chose would like to have:
the feeling of my TSP BALSA 5.5 + that handle of Donic Dotec Series
I thought that the Hinoki wood was harder than the limba wood and that I was going to have more feeling with the DOTEC WALDNER.

So if you think that the Waldner would be harder than the TSP BALSA 5.5 I will stay with the Persson Dotec.

Another question:
One of my team mates have a TSP BALSA 4.5 AR... he is going to try also one of these Donic Dotec, in your opinion witch one is similar to the TSP BALSA 4.5 AR...

Sorry to see that no one use TSP blades to give Ping_77 a good answer.

I have more use of the Donic Persson Dotec and it's really a fantastic blade for Chinese rubbers. The blade is really really light and so the combo is still light. It's fast enough to be compared to carbon blades. It's stiff but has enough damping that give dwell time, especially if one use Chinese rubbers. The light combo with the Chinese rubbers allow the user to take a full swing with less energy. So if someone find the game physically demanding this blade may help. Girls and older player could really benefit from it I supposed.

My only complaint is the handle. I EJ alot and use many blades, blades with ST, FL, AN, and CO handles. So to go from regluar to Dotec is hard to adjust. Only if I can change the handle.

I have tried to answer his question in regards to TSP Balsa Plus 5.5. The best that can go with TSP Balsa Plus 4.5 is Persson OFF. Although both have balsa blades, the DONIC blades are combination of various wood layers while TSP Balsa Plus series have only balsa and fiber.

The TSP blades are not that popular in the United States, but there are people who use it. In our club 3 people use it. Their high end Hinoki blades and defensive blades are very popular worldwide.

OK the adjustment to the handle after using regular one had driven me crazy since I use so many different blades on a regular basis. I use at least three to four blades currently. So I finally got rip of the Dotec, finally said good bye to Dotec handle.
