To most of us, a simple table tennis table will suffice, not necessary to get the most expensive table tennis table.
For those buying tabletennis's table for the first time, look for the cheaper one first. The reason is that you do not know whether you are seriously into tabletennis with your relatives and friends or it is just for passing your time only.
Next, ask yourself whether you are going to leave the table permanently set-up or most of the time packing it up and putting it back where it will not be in the way. If you are going to be packing it up when not playing consistently, you will require a fold-up model. Nowadays most tables comes folded up with rollers for ease of moving it. The quality of the roller tables made by Butterfly, Champion, DHS, Joola etc. are good.
Next thing to look at is the thickness of the table top. A 25mm (1 inch) thick tops are worth buying because these tables give a nice, even bounce, but a table top with 19mm (0.75 inches) thick tops will still do the job well for someone learning to play. For serious tournament players(intermediate and advanced level), they should go for a 25mm thick top just so that they have a similar table to what they will play on at tournaments.
Last but not the least, ensure the table has good strong supports/legs. This is especially important if you have children that are likely to treat the table rougher than an adult. A leg levelers on the bottom of the legs may come in handy when the floor you are playing on is not level
Look for the best deal on price with the above mentioned features and you will not go wrong.
