Sanwei HC-1 (OFF- Hinoki Arylate Carbon) review

Sanwei is not a common brand here in the US. Not a single player in my club plays with this brand. It's is very good quality blades from China, much better than most of the Chinese imports. I attempted to bid and get the Sanwei HC-1, HC-3, and HC-7 to make reviews here. I came short and got only the HC-1 and HC-2. (The HC-3 turned out to be a HC-2!).
The blade, Sanwei HC-1 is a beautiful looking A/C blade with hinoki wood. The look of this blade is one of the best design I have seen around. (For pics go to Eacheng.net). The blade is OFF-, not overly fast. It's faster than most 5-ply wood but slower than Clipper. So it is not as fast as TBS, MM, KLHS, etc. The control is very good, much better than the KLHS that I used before. The feel of the wood is soft but the blade is stiff, not flexy. If I remember correctly there are five layers of wood rather than three like the other A/C blades.
I put on T25 1.9mm fh and T64 1.9mm bh to test the blade. The counter hits are done with great control and power. The blade has a soft feel but the center feels solid, very hard. That feel translates to a very low throw for all the shots. The over-the-table loops are fantastic! The loops are very low and spinny. They look like smashes with loads of topspin. This is the best blade for fast attack and topspin over the table regardless of price! Not even the Butterfly SC, T5000, or PowerDrive Classic has this power. They are not even close! The fast loops are so flat and spinny that it's almost impossible for anyone to block even in practice. Against underspin I need more practice though. Blocks are easy against slower topspin but against flast shots it's harder to control. Lots of dwell time for loops! No problem with short game. No problem with topspin defense. With a little more practice to get use to the low throw this can be my main weapon.
For under $70 this is the best A/C blade, especially for a Timo style of play. For under $120 it may still be the best. It plays like a very fast OC that has no vibration and a very low throw. I love the OFF- speed that combine with fast rubbers like Tenergy. With this blade, you don't feel any carbon when you play, no carbon ping sound either. Very attractive looking. Great price. Chinese made quality blades has arrived!!!

Having play the blade again the second time the feeling has changed a little--don't know why. May be because of the weather or the new T25 I was using on the blade that last time. The blade's throw seems less low now. It's feel seems less soft too. I would put it at medium feel. I still like the combination; it has enough speed for anyone. May be I was too enthusiastic the last time I play with it. It doesn't seem to outperform some of those blades that I mentioned, but still overall for its price is better than them. ;)
