yasaka mark v comparable rubber?

Postby dwb » Fri Apr 16, 2010 7:15 am

HELLO ALL,
I used to play many many years ago,say 25 with yasaka mark v which I still have.
I have kept it super clean, h2o only and air tight in plastic, how does one know when it is dead?
I have found a great little club in the south of france with good players and will hit a couple a times a week with HUGH pleasure, as you all know! :D

QUESTIONS, :?:
I would like to either make my OLD, OLD ,DID i SAY OLD mark 5 as good as possible, does there now exist a product to revitalize rubber?
WOW !!
It was expensive when i got it way back then, but now!!
Where is the best, least expensive place to buy new mark 5?
OR WHAT MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE RUBBER PLAYS LIKE YASAKA MARK V OR AM I DREAMING?
As I am now 50 but still play attack top spin both sides, but have a serious budget,
HOPEFULLY SOME ONE will kindly suggest a reasonable priced rubber like my old beloved mark v.
SORRY TO RAMBLE

Hi dwb. If the rubber is 25 yo I am sure it's dead even if you haven't open the package. The sponge will not perform the same after all this time. There is nothing that can bring it back I am afraid. So keep your old Mark V and Sriver for your memory but don't use them.
I would be the first to be interested if you are able to find equipment from 25 years ago, stuff like old blades. Playing tt is enjoyable but you have to be in shape, and at 50 you have to work harder than when you were younger. Go walk and jump rope for starter.
I am not sure what you mean by having a serious budget. If you can afford it Tenergy is the best rubber right now. It is about $55USD a piece. For a poorer man, there is Chinese rubbers like Inspirit Quattro, Blue Whale II, and Hurricane. I don't suggest that you use the same type of rubbers that you used back then. It's a different style and different game now. I think Blue Whale and Hurricane for forehand and Inspirit Quattro for backhand is a very good combination.
What blade are you using?
