learning pingpong website

Postby johndeer » Mon Aug 30, 2010 8:11 am

my friend introduced me to pingpong game a year ago. i have a lot of fun with it so far. Would like to learn more about and improve my game. I play once every week, but i feel compelled to improve my game in order to keep up with my friends (opponents at game). Well, getting an instructor is quite expensive. I'm think of buying a training video. Any suggestion? The other day, I happened visiting a website http://joy-pingpong.blogspot.com which has some lesson videos. It may not be sufficiently complete for me, but at least it is free. Can someone suggest other websites where I can learn more about pingpong FREE.

You can pick up some techniques by just watching world class players play (videos from worlds championship, olympic, world cups, world team ,etc.). I recommend the women because the men's fitness level is beyond you. You can also watch better players play at your local clubs. Maybe they will be friendly and teach you a thing or two.
What city in CA are you in? Almost all the major city in CA have clubs. TT is very strong in Northern CA.

May be UC Davis has a club that allow non-students to play!

Hello johndeer,

Get to youtube and search for: Basic strokes and this would generate
many screens that teaches you how to do basic strokes. As soon as
you open a screen, youtube would lists various links on the same subject
(of learning the basic of table tennis).

I like the way Viszpi teaches, especially the serves. I consider the teaching
on Ma Lin serve is one of his best. I also like Lovett9x due to his simple
teaching method.

Just enter Viszpi or Lovett9x in the youtube search engine and you have
many link to the various lessons that would be very beneficial to you, and
there are many more similar links introduced to you by youtube afterward,

Hope this helps, and enjoy :P
