09 world swimming championships

Postby ejunkie » Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:13 pm

I have been watching as much as this as I could. Man, the results are crazy. I am talking about the speedsuit of course. The Germany guy, Biedermann, who beat Michael Phelps improved his time by 4-5 seconds (?) from his recent Olympic 5th place and won the gold. How can that count? Do you know how hard it is and how much time it takes to improve just one second, let alone that much in less than a year's time. If it's a long distance I can understand, but it's just 200 meter. If we still have Germany divided you would think that he is using. Back in those days, I am sure that kind of sudden improvement causes some talks. But today we know it's the speedsuit and sure no one used anything. What could have explained all the wr? I heat it when a sport not competed on a equal level.

It could be a new technology breakthrough in the new speedsuit.

Or it could be that the German swimmer has been working very hard indeed after the Olympic and peak at the championship.

(Or could the swimmer be on some kind of "drugs"?)

Only the swimmer and God knows the answer.

Are we talking about the suit they wear at the swimming? Is speedsuit a brand or the all range of swim suits are called speedsuits?

Yes, I believe we are talking about the swimsuit with new technology breakthrough and the media called it the "speedsuit". I think there could be a couple of brands like the Arena, Speedo etc.

Full-body suits first appeared in the swimming events at the 2000 Summer Olympics. But in Rome, German swimmer Paul Biedermann said the growing attention to the issue made him mad. He said, "It's all about the suits. It's not about the swimmer anymore."

He said that after he defeated American Michael Phelps in the two hundred meter freestyle and did it faster than the world record time Phelps set last year at the Beijing Olympics.
Biedermann wore the newest speed suit. Phelps wore last year's version. His coach later said he would urge Phelps not to compete internationally until the ban takes effect next year.
