Then Seiya Kishikawa, currently standing at a career high of no.32 on the ITTF Men’s World Rankings gave Japan the lead by overcoming Ma Long, World ranked No.2 in three straight games. Next came Jun Mizutani and Xu Xin with the latter won the first two games before Mizutani levelled and then in the crucial fifth game established a 10-7 lead. Three match points; all saved by Xu Xin, then again at 11-10, the Japanese star had another chance, Xu Xin saved again.
