Anti-spin Rubber - All member users, please contribute

Postby 729 fx » Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:29 am

After playing against a player with an anti-spin set-up, I am now intrigue by it and starting to get interested in anti-spin rubber. I would like to request that all users of anti-spin rubber to put in a post in this thread on the followings:

1) What Anti-spin rubber - brand, color, and sponge thickness.

2) How you play with it - that is do you chop defensively with it or you also loop with it or block, smash, etc. The reason for this is to gauge what can be done with the particular anti. Here, I mean how you play with it rather than how it should be used.

3) Where you got it from would help as well (either on-line or from nearby tt shops). Also, if possible, what are the available sponge thickness they come in to your knowledge.

4) Any other information like weight, feel (hard, soft or medium), etc.

5) Please keep to one anti-spin rubber per post. So if you have used 2 different rubbers, please put up 2 posts in order not to mixed them up.

Hopefully if there is enough contributors, this thread can be made a sticky thread. This thread is to assist the newbie to anti-spin rubber to get a general idea of what is out there and how people use them.

Cheers

I have used few anti-spin rubbers. Although I have used it, they are not my favorite.

Dr.Neubauer A-B-S released in May, 2009.
Dr.Neubauer Anti-Spin Special in 2008.

I've been experimenting with the A-B-S. It seems pretty playable for a blocking style, just takes some time to figure out what it can do.

Yes, that is considered as a blocking Anti. I think I forgot to write the review on it.

I will post a video of Amelie Solja, the anti-spin master soon in our vimeo channel. I have played a spare session with her at the US Open. She drove me nuts. I will post that video also. When I was leaving she game a small Joola blade.

Looking forward to that. Are there any other pros who play anti?

In my knowledge, there is no one in the professional circuit except Amelie Solja uses anti. However, there may be some using it whom we have not seen in public circuit much. I have not asked Amelie about it. I can ask her when I meet her next time. She is really an expert with anti, and has come to one of the Europe's top with her anti.

Dr.Nuebauer is famous for his antis. Still, he does not use Anti personally as far as I know. I have spoken to Carsten (Dr.Carsten) like two months ago, and that is the impression I have got. Who knows Neubauer may because he has been researching into making better antis for some one to two years now - experience makes better products to some.

In my opinion, Inverted Antis are very hard to use. That is one reason the pros hate to use it. It is not because it is "crap" as some say. Secondly, you can kill yourself with a minor mistake. It is like you give your gun to an amigo and tell him to better shoot and kill you. Using an anti requires 100% perfection in shots, understanding the opponents spin.

I occasionally play with Antis. I like it. Until I completely develop all the strokes with it, I will not play with it regularly.

Thank you for your patience regarding the video. Too much on the plate, and doing it one at a time.

I've been using Butterfly Super Anti for some time now and I love it. Its is so funny when you meet some who does't know how to play anti and nowadays I try to control myself laughing a loud. You can hit near the table and chop away from the table which creates a heavy underspin. Should you chop in the table there is no underspin at all, and your placment of the ball has to be inconvenient for your opponent for them to lose balance or make short placement just over the net so that they cannot attack you by hitting the ball or push it hard. Its really hard to learn to use anti and I would suggest to that you learn from a short pimple first, get a hang of that first before moving to any anti rubber it makes it easier to learn from there.

My Anti is placed on my backhand I hold the bat about 45 to 50 degree using my wrist to push forward with an extension of my arm & most of the time the opponents return would just fall into the net, the danger is cutting too much for season players with anti they will attack you first as soon as you cut the ball.

Wah sound like a pro! Hey how can I place a video so that those interested can watch what I know.

i like it because its hard. You must face the headaches first before your opponents faced them. The longer you use the rubber the better it gets.

Butterfly Super Anti Black 2.0 BH Primorac Carbon.

Oh yeah.... carbon bats help a lot. More speed and control with anti. Other bats not as effective.

I will have the Amelie videos soon. I will try this week.

We the junkies have a video channel at http://www.vimeo.com/channels/tabletennis. I can help you upload your videos to that channel. Then it can be put on the forum for the people to watch.
