Are Europe Players starting dominance?

Postby varghese » Thu Oct 22, 2009 9:40 am

Everyone talk about Chinese players dominance in the international table tennis. By looking at the recent performance of Europeans, do you think European players are going to dominate the world?

Is it because of the new table tennis rubbers from ESN (Tensor) helping them? We talk about skills an important factor behind Chinese players success. I would add that the equipments helped them too. Is that going to reverse, and the European players going to dominate?

In my opinion, before the Europeans think about ending the Chinese dominance they must get pass the Koreans & the Japanese first. Lets see what they can do at the on-going World Team Cup.
1. BTY Matsushita PowerDefence - Globe 999 1.5mm & Globe 979 1.5mm
2. BTY Grubba Pro - Double Fish 820 1.2mm & DHS C8 1.0mm

Even if the European is dominating at the moment, my humble opinion is that it will not be long before the Chinese come up with something to handle that.

Example, when the European's influence on the size increase of the ball (from 38mm to 40mm), the Chinese comes up with faster equipment to counter the "slow ball". Now, the European has the tensor technology to aid them after the speed glue ban. That will not be long, I think, before the Chinese come up with something to counter this.

Uh, where? how? what? Did I miss something???

Ah, I don't get the sense that the Europeans are making a move much less being dominating. All the recent large tournaments like the Olympics and Worlds makes me want to ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ because of the lack of European performances (how can't the best performance coming from a 40+ old guy).

If the statement is reffering to the World Cup where Samsonov won then it's a mistake because the top Chinese were at home getting a tan.

ejunkie is right. The recently concluded World Team Championship in Linz, Austria proves that China is still the dominant force followed by South Korea in the men's team. Germany came close but was beaten by South Korea in the semi-finals. The other semi-finalist is Japan.

As for the women's team, the current leaders are China, followed by Singapore and Hong Kong.

I have not followed up with the participation of the Chinese players. Didn't Ma, Liqin and Hao participate in the world cup?

No Ma Lin, no Wang Hao, and no Wang LQ. Just the younsters like Ma Long and Chen Q went to the World Cup. And even with those two the winner Samsonov had to beat both of them (semi vs Chen and final vs Ma) to win the cup. With a little experience (if this takes place two years later), the result would be different, Ma the winner and Chen second.

China decided to rest its top players after the China National Games. I was informed that Wang Liqin will be participating in the English Open in Sheffield, England in the coming week.
