Best rubber for serving!

Postby acer800 » Tue Aug 18, 2009 6:46 pm

What rubber do you guys think would be the most effective rubber for all-round serving? I'm looking for a rubber that will be especially more strong on the spin side than speed and such. Any suggestions? Thanks! :D

Based on your question, it should be a very spinny rubber for such action.
In my experience, so far 729 super fx has not let me down in all-round serving.
1) Primary set-up : YinHe(Galaxy) 986 Sriver FX / Pluto
2) Spare set-up 1 : Japan LAK - CJ8000 / 799 OX
3) Spare set-up 2 : Palio T7 - White Shark / 729 FX

Thank you for the response. I will have the rubber in mind, btw do you agree that I should find the softest rubber with the tackiest top-sheet available to suit my needs?

Yes I do. Unless you are using a very soft blade, that particular rubber may not be suitable (in my opinion) as your set-up will be "soft" all the way. Also, I believe the thicknes of the sponge will also have some effect on serving with lots of spin.
Normally to get the max spin from serves, Chinese rubber (the medium or soft sponge type) will do the trick.

Thanks for the response! I will go order the 729 super fx, I've always wanted to become a better server. Just never got into practicing it.

getting a tacky for "max" serving will be a double edge sword...
it'll also react "max" when receiving...
you can't get around practicing... even players with plain rubbers will be able to load MAX spin on their serves...

For me the 729 fx is an all-round Chinese rubber. Will take a couple of playing days (3 or 4) to break (settling down comfortable) the rubber. A 2.0mm medium sponge will be just right for you to practise your serves and play an all-round game.
