The Donic Persson Dotec OFF is a 7-ply wooden blade made of Japanese Hinoki, Dotec-Balsa, and Koto plies. It's 75gr and priced $79 at Paddle Palace. There is a right-handed version and a left-handed version. The handle are bend, and not straight like regular handles, to fit he hand. It has a very comfortable handle that made of soft wood that can absorb sweat--and a nice finish. It is fast as most carbon blades. It's about the feel and speed of a very light Primorac Carbon. It' slight on the thick side with about 7.4mm thickness. It comes with the very attactive silver metal Donic logo on the butt.

It's an ideal blade for Chinese rubbers. I had some H3s and play with them on this blade. The loops and feel are very good--no vibration. The block and short game is very stable and easy to control. I actually like to have some heavier rubbers to have the combo at my usual weight. I also most like to try some slower, spinny rubbers like TG2 and PF4, but I don't have them on hand to give a review. In short, this is a very good blade for mid-distance and for someone who plays a game between a Chinese game and a Euro game. With the slower PF4 and Tg2 I suspect it's better for the Cinese style of play.

My final opinion--a great blade for the price. An equal of PC but with the feel of a 7-ply wood!

do you know the exact positioning of the woods?
say... hinoki-balsa-koto... etc?

i woldn't use this novelty shape handle myself because i frequently flip my blade during play...

Although I am not 100% positive, it's Hinoki-koto-hinoki-balsa-hinoki-koto-hinoki from the look of it. It is supposed to be OFF-. The handle is only curved near the end/butt, i.e. the last 40%. If your grip it high you wouldn't notice the handle, but for someone who flips the bat this doesn't work well.

I love that puppy . Yum Yum. A friend of mine has an allround one. He plays very close to the table, and the speed was just exact for him. He is a leftie. He has told me he occasionally had issue of the handle causing him trouble.

For twiddling, this is not a right fit. Does the same model has regular handle?

The pic that Varghese shown is for lefty. Mine is for righty of course. From the pic you can see that it may be possible to unscrew the handle at the point where it seems to be jointed. You can then screw in another handle type of your choice. I have to ask Donic about the construction of the handle to be sure, and I would have to ask an expert like Borko to do the changing of the handle if I should intend to change it. It seem very possible that you can have a blade with different handles for your every mood. An today, CO tommorow, ......

actually looking at the blade... doesn't seem like a hinoki top... perhaps a limba top...

By looking at this new picture, I think the top ply is Hinoki.

I was just talking to Borko. He is a very articulate. He is going to make one blade for me.

I may get this DONIC blade and try out. Thanks eJunkie for revealing this blade. What bothers me is its speed, but the balsa and the hinoki is attracting me.

Have any one try this Donic Waldner Dotec AR? Is there any review?

I play with a TSP Balsa GlassFiber 5.5 and love the softness and feeling of the BALSA, I play mid distance top-spin and blocking but also like to chop and to play some short shots close to the table (amorties, flicks).

Since I have heard about this new tipe of grip with a perfectly smooth handle - a joy to grip - made out of one piece, surrounded by natural cork I wiling to try it...

But I need some help for choosing between this two:
