I was wondering what equipment world class players used nowadays? My guess is that the dominant players from China may be using DHS blades with rubbers from Haifu or DHS. I may be wrong.

Players like Timo Boll, definately is using Butterfly blades, but which model?

Wasn't Timo using Timo Boll ALC blade with Tenergy rubber? I remember reading that from somewhere, but never confirmed it.

It is not very useful to know what they use because the quality of the stuff they get is different than those available to the general public. Plus they change so frequently. Plus a whole list of reasons.

It is very definite that the top players get the high quality rubbers. The companies make them special versions also. For example, Jasna Reed, the top woman player in the US gets her special Nittaku rubbers. She is used to a special thickness and she can only use that.

There is one reason why I look for the equipments that professionals use. If I like the strokes of a player, I will look at the rubber he uses. The performance of a butterfly tenergy is different from a xiom omega rubber.

I have a cutting from a Japanese magazine which has a list of rubbers the Japanese players use. I have shown that to a friend for translation. He has told me the top players in Japan use Butterfly Tenergy and XIOM Omega IV 4. There is a reason why the XIOM has become the popular there, because the TSP is the mother of all brands in Japan and they market XIOM.

729 is right. The Chinese players mostly use the National versions of DHS or Haifu.

I thought Joo Se Hyuk used his own blade, Butterfly Tenergy 64 & TSP Curl P-H?

Joo uses custom Butterfly. It's an old diode blade very similar to the Butterfly Joo Se Hyuk blade released few years ago. The forehand is Tenergy 64 and the backhand is TSP Curl p1r.

Is this info you got from the Japanese magazine? Which year is it issued?
One of the members from another forum got the opportunity to umpire Joo's match middle of last year & he confirmed at that time Joo was using his own JSH blade, Tenergy 64 & TSP Curl P-H (thick sponge).
