I have tried haifu blue whale 111 III for about 2 weeks now.Excellent rubber but you need good technic to get the best out of the rubber. When you first try it it seems slow due to the grip, but dont be fooled it comes off the table as quick tenergy but more control. Great rubber but expensive !

Welcome to ttjunkie, barry.

Thanks for the feedback on the BW III.

The members here would appreciate a detail review in terms of how the BW II perform under, maybe the following headings:

1) serve
2) loop
3) drive
4) block

or any other areas that you deem fit to comment on.

Cheers.

Haifu Blue Whale 111 Serve very good spin, how ever does not give indication to your playing partnner. Excellent variation. Block far better than the best control rubbers.Topspin very good if you have fine contact at speed.Short game nothing better. No wonder the Chinese with there training and skill find this rubber fits there needs.Only concern is the durability of the surface, seems to mark easily. Thanks Barry for the review.

The Haifu Whale III is expensive. I don't think I would be able to do a test drive of that rubber. I have friend who is coming from China. He may bring one for me for a better deal.

Can you do a physical characteristics comparison between Tenergy and Whale III?

Yes, Haifu products are not cheap (Blue Whale series, White Shark series, Penguin etc).
Unlike Double Fish, 729, Galaxy(YinHe) and some of Dawei rubbers which are cheaper, Haifu rubbers are more expensive.

The mid-range Chinese rubbers (in my opinion) are DHS, some of the Dawei higher end rubbers, Palio and Globe(or 999).

I have got some insider information that the Chinese players are moving away from Haifu and using DHS more these days. The Haifu was popular for a while but not now.

The technology Haifu has used to tune the rubber was not a new idea. TIBHAR and some Euro brands had the same before Haifu introduced it. In Europe, they soak a thin cloth in the oil and put on the back side of the sponge. The rubber will dome like speed glued rubber. After a while the rubber become normal. What I know is that in Europe there are many players using this technology.

The brands like Dr.Neubauer, Joola had a similar technology before. They called it 'tuning'. You place the rubber in a pressure chamber and the rubbers gets speed and spin after 8 hours. When ITTF introduced the booster ban, these manufactures pulled all those tuned rubbers from the market. After seeing the way Haifu going, these manufactures regret what they have done. They should not have withdrawn the tuned rubbers.

Well that was what I heard also, Chinese players using DHS rubbers more and more.

Currently only Wang Hao is using Haifu rubbers, Blue Whale to be specific. Others like Wang Liqin and MaLin are using DHS (that is what I heard), Ma Long used to be a fan of Nittaku, but now I am not sure what equipment(blade & rubbers) is he using now.

Top Chinese women players like Zhang Yining and Guo Yue are Butterfly products user.

Haifu rubbers are 729 rubbers with the tuning. A lot of people opposed to its high price. There is alternative for these rubbers - buy a 729 rubber and tune with the TIBHAR tuner.
