I'm a fan of the 21pts game in that it shows true endurance and also gives the player in the trail to recoup and return, but! i also like the intensity of the 11 point game, You get to show more critical skills to keep the lead or you'll fail. it all comes down to this- if I'm watching a game on tv i prefer the 11 point game, if I'm playing i prefer the 21 pt game...well sometimes! :P

Agreed! But nowadays I don't play as often as I used to, and my timing is off at the beginning, and the the worst scenario is Im tired or don't have enought sleep my form is really off. 11 points is kill or be kill situation you gotta pushed yourselve for every shot and can't afford to make much mistakes. Yesterday I had a match and I was leading 9-1 First game, and guess what I relaxed my friend caugh up to 9 all and he lead 10-9. I have lost 9 point straight and I could not get one point no matter what I did. At 10-9 it was my serve I he took my underspin short to the net and manage to round it up to 10/10. I took a break and gathered my thoughts and started to think clearly and calm my self down, it was an important match coz dinner was at stake :D

My learned from my past experience and watching professional players taking a break at critical moments during a battle. Eventually it went on to 13/13 and I won the first game of 15/13 phew that was a close call, and the short break really help to break my friends momentum. Second and third game was a cinch coz I gave him a no mercy game kill or be kill.... dinner was sweet.

Has anyone lost so many points before? I have and it was cold sweat... well I mean It the game was for fun its alright but there was a bet and losing so many points was insane and unbelievable. We both had a good laugh after the game and my friend said if I had lost the first game, the second and third game would have rendered him victorious coz I would have lost my confidence and lost my mojo to play on.... I guess he was right.

Now if the game was 21 points both sides get to plan their games and plan better and has a fair chace of catching up. 11 point is exciting but sometimes you just don't have enough time to know the other player better and find his weakness by the time you know its game over. I have won and lost games without breaking as sweat coz its too fast and TT is a fast and furious game. I think I prefer 21 points over 11 points how about you guys hmm?

I have not heard such a news from ITTF. It is possible some organizations rebelling against the ITTF re-introducing rules that are banned.

I would like to play a 21 points game. It is fun.

When I started playing TT back in 2001 it was already 11 Points, I have no idea how 21 points is like. Many of the veteran players at my club prefer 21 points due to the speed of the game and a chance to catch up and read your opponents game.

I agree with adriel that to watch a tt game, I would prefer a 11 pts game but to play I would love to play 21 pts. Reason being that you could play longer and plan your strategy better as you have 5 serves in hand compared with only 2 serves if play the 11 pts game.

Well, all these 21 pts & 38mm ball coming back could be rumours. But I believe the ball is going to be >40mm in the future.
