A request for help from the Philipines to Adham Sharara, President of the International Table Tennis Federation, and he responded immediately. The request was to help less fortunate school age children by donating table tennis equipment (whether used or new).
Double Happiness Sports Company met the request from ITTF by sending some packages as a gesture which showed the humanitarian side of table tennis.
“Certainly, the children were surprised to receive quality rubbers and rackets from Double Happiness Sports Company in Shanghai”, explained Caril John Magaso. “A total of 48 rubbers including Hurricane and TG Skyline plus the 24 assembled rackets were sent.”
“A total of 40 children received the generous aid; the rubbers and rackets were divided accordingly to maximize the numbers of recipients, the handing over of the equipment was completed at a recent tournament”, continued Caril John Magaso. “Children with worn out rackets and old rubbers were selected to receive the new equipments; the children were very thankful, it is a gesture that really helps promote table tennis for young people.”
It was a fine gesture by the company who sponsors such illustrious players as Wang Hao, Wang Liqin and Ma Long. The benefits are far reaching; the efforts of Adham Sharara and Steve Dainton, the ITTF Asia Pacific Office Marketing Director were most definitely well received.
“Mr. Adham Sharara and Mr. Steve Dainton have made a lot of children happy in the Philippines through their efforts; they went an extra mile by even paying the customs tax without which the packages would not have been released and given to the recipients in due time”, continued Caril John Magaso. “Mr. Sharara said that in order to develop good players from other countries, particular attention should be given to younger children, since they have more time to train and develop; following that principle, the International Table Tennis Federation is continuously helping children of the next generation to further advance the development of the sport, especially in third world countries.”
It is a very positive move and has enriched the lives of a group of young people, a very meaningful activity is now available; hours of enjoyment and who knows, a player or players of high quality may well emerge from the Philipines.
Cheers.
