Micro Polyester Shirt Review

Postby 729 fx » Mon Jun 01, 2009 9:52 pm

When Adidas first came out with its Dry-Fit shirt for sports (any type) a couple of years ago, the response was overwhelming.

Throughtout the years, many apparel companies came out with the same technology, albeit a different name like Cool-Fit, Dri-sweat etc. Here I would like to review a 100% polyester shirt made in China. There was no brand on the shirt as it was given to me by a friend of mine who manufacture the apparel for Puma and has factories in China, Thailand and Malaysia.

Material - as mentioned earlier it was 100% micro polyester and used the modern-day wicking technology to help transfer the sweat from the inside of the shirt to the outside, where it can dry faster (similar to the Adidas technology). This system makes me a lot drier as compared with my other cotton shirts, and dries much faster in between games. The sides of the shirt, from the armpit down to the bottom, are stitched using some kind of mesh material, which allows for better breathability and heat dispersal.

Fitting - It is a good fit with no sleeves that are too tight or long. It is in Asian size, though.

Durability - Worn this shirt a couple of times now after machine wash and drying in the sun, the stitching is holding up well with no loose thread visible so far. The colors remain as bright as before.

Next : Am going to get myself a Butterfly and a Stiga shirt.

This shirt is not sold to the public per se as the manufacturer is contracted to companies like Puma etc. My purpose of reviewing the shirt is to compare with the material with other reviews of similar shirts.

Photos of the shirt will later as I do not have time to shoot as yet. Been quite busy this couple of days, and will be outstation in the next 2 weeks. Once back at month end, will try to get the picture of the shirt out.

I have another T-shirt 35%-65% cotton/polyester orange in colour.

Review :
Material - 35% from cotton and 65% from polyester. Cotton for better absorption of sweat while polyester for easier transfer of the sweat from the inside of the shirt to the outside.

Fitting - For this current review, I find it slightly big (L-size) even though most L fit me nicely. Am not sure it is in Asian size or American size.

Durability - Worn this shirt around 8 times and after machine wash and drying in the sun, the stitching held up good and the colour is still bright orange. Will test it for another 3 months and we shall see.

Got myself a Stiga (100% cotton) T-shirt and 2 others (combination of cotton/polyester) T-shirts during a grand sale at the apparel shops.

Will post review once I have tested them.

I tried another 100% polyester T-shirt, an Italian brand Lotto.

General description : Made of very thin polyester material unlike the more famous brands like Nike, Adidas or Reebok where the materials is thicker. Quite comfortable for me and not too large or my body.

Durability - Worn this shirt around 6 times already and after machine wash(2times before the washing machine broke down, 4 times hand wash) and drying in the sun, the stitching held up good and the colour is still OK. Will test it for another 3 months with an average of wearing it once a week during table tennis practice and see whether the colours have faded or not.
