New Material?

Postby 729 fx » Tue Nov 24, 2009 9:50 pm

I have heard of glass fiber, carbon (many diferent types like light, tamca etc), aralyte, kevlar etc. But nothing beats titanium. The lightest metal but with "bullet-proof" property like kevlar.

I read from the net a 7-layer blade by Palio comprises of 2 layers of light carbon, 2 layers of titanium and 3 layers of wood. The model is TCT. ( 拍里奥TCT碳素钛合金快攻型乒乓球 TCT titanium+carbon+wooden Blade)

Have anyone seen this or even try this blade?

I have started my journey of researching into the carbon blades. I'm getting a Stiga Carbo Oversize WRB today. As far as I know, the energy saving in different carbons are different. The fiber, black cloth adds sweet spot, but they are not energy saving. What I don't like about carbon is if it is high speed, no way I go near to it.

Yes, varghese, you are right in saying that most, if not all carbon blades are fast but difficult to control, in my opinion.

There is another Palio blade, released in the year 2006 which comprised of Titanium and wood and was categorised as ALL+ to OFF- (IMO). Was told it is slower than the TCT (Titanium-Carbon blade which is categorised as OFF)It is a 7-ply blade and the model is T-7. Will be able to try this out end March and will review it later.
