New Table Tennis Auction Website for Junkies

Postby admin » Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:48 pm

We are going to release a new auction website for table tennis equipment junkies. Here is the website: http://www.tabletennismarket.com/auction/

Soon, we are going to remove the For Sale section from tabletennisJunkie website. We are going to make the tabletennisJunkie forum for discussion only.

Guys, please share your ideas and opinions. Here are some highlights about the auction site:

1. No listing fee.
2. The members can ship the equipments to TableTennisStore.US to sell. TableTennisStore.US will list the items for free. When they are sold, the payment will be made to the member.
3. No credit card to sign up.

How come it says there's a listing fee on the actual website?

I really really like the whole concept of it though! IMO it will be a big hit, if there really is no fee what so ever. I just have one small suggestion, for the menu "tabs" at the top I think having the whole tab be clickable would be better than just the text part. Very nice design though! :D

Thanks Acer. I have been working on it for few days. I will consider your User Interface suggestions.

Unfortunately, we have to charge a very nominal fee for the listing. There are serious buyers and sellers who want the site to be legal as well as hassle free. The listing fee is nominal. If someone lists a product for $50, they pay a listing fee of $2. Then there are some additional features like front page listing like ebay has which will be charged 25 cents only. The member will not be charged immediately for the fee. The invoice will be sent only every three months.

Let me know what you guys think.

On the fees list there's a few for offering. Does that mean the buyer would have to pay each time that person wishes to bid on a specific product?

Actually I sort of figured out the answer on my own by registering and bidding. I have a comment I want to share with you though. IMO the listing fees should be free at the moment since the website is still pretty new to the public and also if it costs $$ to list why not just list at ebay instead. This way it will encourage new members to register and input as many auctions as they wish and that will of course lead into more traffic which is good for both sides. Then when the website starts to develop steady traffic you can start to apply fees anyway you wish. Although I have to be honest, I've never had a serious online business before so my suggestions could just be totally wrong. The hosting fee for the website probably will be too much of a drag to offer free auction listing.

EDIT: Or you can just make the seller pay a higher fee if the item sells.

Thanks, yes defiantly let him decide instead. He could of have put way too much effort and time into it for it to be a free listing website.

What do you guys think about donating the profit that comes out of listings to the clubs in third world countries who promote the table tennis sport? Something similar to what we have done last year donating to the Sandra's fund.

oooo! That's a good idea, the only thing I'm worried about is wether the site will attract members to list items though with all the fees and stuff. If it does somehow attract users then that will be splendid!

Thanks for the comments. Let me work on no charging the members for listing. I think that is possible.
