Other Hobbies

Postby 729 fx » Tue Jun 02, 2009 1:04 am

What other hobbies do the average table tennis enthusiasts get into apart from table tennis?

For me, it is hiking, basketball and photography(when I am on holiday).

For me, I actually have a few extremely unique hobbies that other might think are crazy. Such as modifying and having Nerf gun wars (although this sounds silly, there's a dedicated forum with thousands of members ranging from age 10-30), building custom laser pointers (I buy the parts online), building/modifying my computer/case (although this is less silly but it's still on the unique side for my age. I also get some help from my dad). My other more common hobbies are fishing, photography, airsoft, and RC cars. Yup that's about it :D .

Sincerely,

Wow, that's a list of unique hobbies, John.

I guess you must be a patient person as fishing will definitely promotes patience.
Photography? Are you into dSLR? What is your favourite camera body and lenses?

Yes! I am absolutely into dSLR as well. :D I would have to say the Nikon D700 is my favorite dSLR camera. Although I do not own one, I've bonded to one that belongs to my dad   . I currently only have two dSLRs one DX60 an another old SLR film camera. It's sad to say I do not have a favorite lens YET. I'm still searching for a good one though ;) .

What dSLR are you using?

i'm using a simple 1000d with the kit lens... before that i used the Rebel also with the kit lens...
my like my 1.8 50mm prime but not getting much use due to the 1.6x multiplier... also make do with 28-135mm at the moment when i need longer zoom...

As for me I am using the old K100D (1st generation). Reason being I have some Vivitar, Tamron & Sigma lenses from the SLR era (was using Vivitar film SLR then) and these lenses have K-mount which is compatible to Pentax/Samsung range of dSLR.My favourite lens is the old Sigma 28 - 210mm zoom.

But alas, nowadays I do not have much time for photography unless I am on holiday.

What's the aperture of the Sigma 28-210mm, it sounds like a very all round lens if it was a 2.8.

Alas, it is not a fixed aperture lens like you mentioned (f2.8). It is an old lens.
It is f3.5 - f5.6.

Ah, I see. I'm currently looking for a 3rd party branded lens with a fixed aperture of f2.8 and a focal length of approximately 20-200mm (preferably as wide as possible). It seems like a impossible mission to accomplish though. The lens would probably have to be extremely bulky to meet the specs. :o
