Today is one of my exciting days. The Universal Sports TV is going to broadcast World Table Tennis Championship 2009 matches on cable TV. This will be viewed by some 40 million viewers according to Universal TV's rating. Our business is part of this as we are one of the advertisers of the match. This is a great effort that your organization ITTF has done to promote the table tennis game in North America by signing a contract with Universal Sports.
Recently, an American beer company Budlight came forward with a $100,000 prize money for a hardbat classic tournament. There is so much talk about ping pong everywhere.
Let's go back to some US Open tournaments took place many years back in the United States. There were non-tt related business to sponsor the events. That is not the situation now. The sponsors of the table tennis events are now all table tennis business related. There is nothing wrong with that in my opinion for allowing the table tennis related business to sponsor events, but the non-tt related business like budlight should come forward to sponsor and widen its popularity to their customers.
My question is, what kind of effort has come from ITTF asking the local organizations like USATT to step forward to canvas the non-tt related business to become advertisers or sponsors, and ultimately promote the game of table tennis. Who has this responsibility in the local organization? Everyone has the responsibility, but I'm asking, is a designated person in the local organization who should take a task like this.
Thank you for your answer.
