So frustrated about information thieves

Postby varghese » Wed Oct 21, 2009 6:23 am

You guys may know I regularly write blog about different equipments and techniques in my blog SpinMantra.com. On internet, it is the top most blog on table tennis. I get a lot of appreciation about my writings for my dedication and spending numerous hours testing them.

Now, I'm so much frustrated that people running table tennis stores online like one in Australia (OAAK), Malaysia (Presports), MyTT (Canada) stealing information from my blog, and using it without my permission. Some cut and copy the information from my blog without giving any credit to my work and use to sell their products.

There is a guy copied a whole blog to make a mockery of me on a different forum. I have asked him to join TableTennisJunkie to have a discussion. He could not take that invitation. The other guy says the information they have got is from Butterfly when the Butterfly does not have any information in their catalog about that product. Another guy blames it on his employees for such dirty job.

Sorry to say, these information thieves should stop doing this kind of cheap tactics.

Here is my guess. Although you may be right that they should have made the acknowledgement--and I would do this if I run an on-line store (because how hard is that?)--legally I think they are right that they don't have to give you credit because your material is not copyright. The whole thing just means that you have just found out that your competitions are not friend competitions.

I have become a researcher for all of them :D and make them profitable.

You can find out how you can make the blog's material copyright.

The material on any blog site is copyrighted including SpinMantra. It has been mentioned on the SpinMantra site specifically at SpinMantra copyright.

Only some go to court to get justice. The fightback is to steal the information from the other party's website. That is impossible sometimes as they don't have any info, and that's why they come to steal from someone else. The other option is to let people know so that these guys will stop stealing.

I don't really care about someone using the material from my blog. It has to be done properly. I really hate when some nut heads take some part of the blog out of context, paste on a competitors forum and make a mockery.

Oh I didn't know that it's copyrighted. May be they didn't know that either. In any case, let them know that and think of this as a warning shot. Next time you can take them to (small claim?) court and get a judgment. Nine of ten time in these cases the defendants don't even show up. Once you have a judgment and you post this then your argument would work. Otherwise, debating the issue wouldn't solve anything. It's he says she says. Most forumers don't like to hear arguments and don't like to take sides--that's what a judge is for. Just my very honest opinion.

If you write a new poem, an article on anything like that for the time time they are copyrighted. It is your willingness that others use it or discuss on it. There are numerous people have taken the contents from my blog and discuss it. I don't have any problem with that. They are healthy discussions.

The guys who steal the information from SpinMantra are primarily other internet stores. It is easy for them to copy and use it because it is free to them they think. It is to sell their products. The three stores we have found are one in Malaysia, one is Australia and one in Canada. The small claim courts in the US is not going to work because we have to cross the border to bring these guys to the court.

You have said the right thing. It is not right at all to bring these issues to forums to instigate members to take one side. I have mentioned this matter here so that the people who read this forum be aware of the issue. It is absolutely wrong to copy the content from this forum or our blog and post on other forums to discuss. Do the discussion here on junkie.
