Some common injuries in tt

Postby ejunkie » Thu Aug 20, 2009 2:02 am

Inspired by the elbow topic, here is a general view of common injuries in tt.

Areas of common injuries: shoulder, wrist, forearm, waist, back, neck, upper leg, knee, .....
reasons for injuries: lack of warm ups, inproper warm ups, no warm ups at all, overly and repeatly practicing one skill or stroke, hitting too hard, inproper techniques, didn't pay enough attention when the injury started, lack body control or balance in play.....

How to deal with injuries: cold water or ice to cool the injured area, try not to move the area, lift the body parts high up (than the heart) so that there wouldn't be internal bleeding, get to hospital as quickly as possible for treatments, ......

Comments please.

Totally agree with ejunkie.

Before any game, irrespective of match competition or practice, we should warm up our body first.

A little bit of static and dynamic stretching on the body parts like shoulder, wrist, forearm, waist, back, neck, upper legs, knee etc so that we reduce these parts to injury.

I have some pain on my right shoulder for like a week. It just appears suddenly and goes away. I played little hesitant against a player when I had that pain severe. I have to see my Chiropractic if this pain does not go away.

As everyone pointed out, it is required to warm up before taking the paddle and hits. I have seen this happening at the tournaments arena irrespective of the level of the player. I have not seen them jogging but the warm up is necessary. When Joo Se Hyuk was practicing with his team, the coaches were in the arena.

The injury some of my opponents get is because they don't watch my spin. In every match, I have seen at least a point my opponent falling down. I help them get up in most of the situations. I feel sorry for making them fall, but it reminds them to move and make strokes.
