Summarry of Blade Category

Postby 729 fx » Mon Jun 01, 2009 8:18 pm

I am going to summarize different category blades into simple layman terms for beginners to understand :

1) Defensive Blades - generally used by defensive, chopping style players.
Speed: Control/Slow (For chopping & control)
Weight: 88-105 gms (generally it varies depending on the player)

2) All Around Blades - good for offensive and All-Around/Offensive players who play with a topspin drive attack.
Speed: All-Around (For blend of control & power)
Weight: 81-84 gms (lighter for ease of attack)

3) Offensive Blades - used by Offensive and All-Around/Offensive players who play from varying distance & want power plus control (as compared with extremely offensive players who usually used Power blades).
Speed: Fast/Very Fast (For blend of control & power)
Weight: 76-89 gms (Balances power & control with good sweet-spot)

4) Power Blades (Wood) - suitable for aggressive players who attack from middle or far distance. Speed: Very Fast (Produces high ball speed)
Weight: > 90+ gms (Provides larger sweet-spot & added stability)

5)Power Blades (Composite Material - Graphite, Carbon Arylate etc.) - mostly used for aggressive players who attack from middle or far distance.
Speed: Very Fast (Normally fo Offensive play, ball is at a very high speed)
Weight: 75-90 gms (Provides a very large sweet-spot without a lot of added weight)

6) Quick Attack Blades - best for Offensive and All-Around/Offensive players who use quick over the table topspin shots.
Speed: All -Around ( that is not so fast or slow, medium will be the right word).
Weight: 72-74 gms (Allows for quick over the table hand speed).
1) Primary set-up : YinHe(Galaxy) 986 Sriver FX / Pluto
2) Spare set-up 1 : Japan LAK - CJ8000 / 799 OX
3) Spare set-up 2 : Palio T7 - White Shark / 729 FX

I used some older equipments and don't necessary agree with the grouping here, but it's a start.

I also do used some older equipment, the oldest from circa 1960s bat, but these equipments I kept it as a collection.

The groupings are just a general guide, there may be some overlapping between blades but I would say it is a start to beginners in understanding the blades. Compared with the first time when I took up table tennis, I know nothing about blades, rubbers, techniques etc.
