Which would you prefer - a 100% cotton shirt or a 100% micro-polyester or a 80%cotton/20%polyester when playing tabletennis?

For me due to the nature of the climate in my country, I will go for the 80/20 cotton/polyester type because cotton (even though it will absorb sweat) is comfortable while polyester will drain the sweat away.

I meant T-shirt. Or do you normally play without shirts?

Good topic 729.

When I was growing up in India, my parents always bought for me 100% cotton shirts. There is a cool feeling to the 100% shirt. My father was in the middle east, and he used to bring shirt with cotton and polyester mix. When everyone else like that combination, I preferred 100% cotton. I carried that tradition until I started working and doing things of my own. When things got busy, I had no time to worry about what I was wearing.

I feel the positive energy when I wear a 100% cotton t-shirt. The cotton absorbs sweat as you have said. To me, cotton shirts keeps my swear away. Sure, I have to change it after a while to feel fresh. I really stink after few matches with cotton-polyester shirts.

Now I search around the net and stores for 100% cotton shirts. I could find only one line of shirt from XIOM which is 100% cotton. Everything else is a mix of cotton and polyester.

eJunkie, do you know any brand in America making 100% cotton t-shirts?

We at the club level normally don't wear tt clothes to attract attension, but there are a few who wear the old cotton tt shirt from years ago. I saw an old Yasaka shirt with Yasaka on the back. I had a few Butterfly shirt from those days that is similar with "Butterfly" on the back. There isn't much after that. We do wear some warm up suits or track suits however.

What I meant here is not necessary tt shirt. It could be any T-shirt that you wore when you play tt.
I have a couple of old T-shirts like a Hard Rock Cafe Guangzhou 100% cotton T-shirt which I wore mostly when I played tt. Occassionaly I will wear the club's T-shirt which is (30% cotton and 70% polyester) and sometimes I wore a football (soccer for the Americans) jersey (either the Chelsea FC or the Man United one) which is 100% polyester when playing tt.

But because of the high humidity factor and the climate in my country, for me the cotton shirt is still the best when playing tt.

Yes, here I am 100% agree with your statement on bringing 3 T-shirts for change after a hard days work-out at the club. We sweat alot, especially now, which is the hot/dry season (till end Aug) and 2 shirts just ain't enough.
