Twitter and Spam

Postby varghese » Wed Sep 16, 2009 11:09 am

Recently I started spending some time on Twitter. A good percentage of the members are spammers. There is no quality reading. There is a member tabletennisclub writes everyday with some links pointing to some spam site. It's kinda boring if we can't read some quality twits.

I find twitting is a "waste of time" unless one is always on the move like waiting for the bus, the train, the flight etc and needs to get "connected" with friends and relatives.

I believe the new "social networking style" like twitter or facebook is a "double edge sword".
On one hand it connects the user with whoever he/she wants to connect with or interact with, like family members, relatives, friends or business associates.
On the other, it may attracts unnecessary spams as the spammers knows that these two "social attractions" will have many contacts to advertise therir products/services.
