Ulmo Ebenholz OFF- forum testing
Blade: Ebenholz OFF-, 5ply all wood
Handle: ST
Feel: medium, stiff and no or little vibration
actual Speed: OFF-

I put on the same T25 1.9mm for the forehand and a TaiChi hard 2.0mm for the backhand and tested the Ebenholz for one hour. This is another well made blade from Uli. The outstanding feature of his blades is the feel of the blade, which is the most important element of any blade for me. Ulmo blades has the best feel when you hit a ball. This is no exception. The blade is faster than my old Acoustic and Butterfly Korbel and maybe faster than HK (I don't remember HK well enough). So it's a fast wood, like a fast Acoustic. I play close to the table and in that range it's very powerful. I think it plays well at even 2-3 meters out. The attacks like loops and blocks are as good as any blade. I was told that smashing would suffer a little because it's all wood OFF-, but I had no problem. As one can imagine the short game is very good for a all wood (non carbon) blade, but blocking and flips are just as good. This blade is stiff and has very little vibration, and so direct shots like blocks and hits are well controlled and can be kept low. I was able to adjust to the blade very fast because it's easy to control and won most of my matches as a result. I only have the same complaint that I have as the rosewood carbon--the blade has to be light for me to use it because of the rubbers selection. Maybe in a standard BTY size would be helpful.
