Movie About Ping Pong

Postby 729 fx » Thu May 14, 2009 1:41 am

Any film/movie out there depicting table tennis?

I know that there are some movies which showed the following sports : basketball, boxing, football (American NFL), soccer etc. But table tennis? Is there any movies showing this game?
(Of course in the movie Forest Gump, there is a scene showing Gump playing ping pong)

I have seen the first movie in the list, Balls Of Fury. It was sometime in 2007 that move came out. I can recall some scenes. There was a large promotion of that movie in all the clubs, and I think even people from this area who dont like to watch those kinds of rated movies, went to see the movie to support such effort to promote the sport. Wei Wang and Diego Schaff of Alpha table tennis have some small roles in that movie. Biba of Killerspin was also in the movie.

I'm not sure whether that movie has impressed me much. Only thrillers, drama and western movies can get my attention. I will go for anyone who wants to make a ping pong movie which is a thriller :P - keeping me on my chair with a lot of suspense.

Ping Pong Playa is the better of the two but neither one is a masterpiece.

Isn't that movie about a Basketball player who takes on ping pong as a challenge?

I think some of these movie producing companies have made these movies as a variety movie in the sea of movies come every year. Don't the people need a chance to see something different instead of seeing all the dramas, horror etc... I don't think these movies are made with an intention to promote the sport of table tennis.

The ITTF has to take some initiative to make such a movie. I don't think ITTF has the money for that though.

I doubt the movie "Doubt" has table tennis element in it; I do not doubt that "Doubt" has plenty of drama, though.
