Game Suspension

Postby 729 fx » Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:33 pm

To my understanding a game may be suspended if there is an injury inflicted to a player.
Is this correct? How long will the suspension be? 10 minutes or half an hour? It cannot be indefinately unless the playing area is afflicted by an earthquake, right?

I think it is 10 minutes. Remember Jorgen Persson injured in the Olympics game last year? Time to recover is negotiated between the umpire and the coach. If the injured player can't recover within the negotiated time like 10 minutes and has still problem, the coach would call a quit.

I've never witness a game suspension in person, but I have seen delay of game for taking too much time in between points. What's the max amount of time one can take between points? (go for a towel, take a drink, take a walk, play with the racket like Ma Lin, etc.)

There is no max amount of time for players to towel up or take a drink. It is total judgment call by the umpire.
