What's the "right" mentality of a attacker?

"right" is quote because there might not be a correct answer to a question like this.
Although I know that the goal of offensive is to win the point as quickly as possible, I am of the kind of person who likes to make the attack last longer because I am the best at long rallies. So my mentality is "correct: for my game. What's yours?

Very good question.

Being a modern defensive player, I play offense on my forehand. To me, my "correct mentality" is to loop with extreme top spin to win the point. I don't like to long rally in offense. I like to do that only when I defend.

I doubt whether that is the "right mentality" of an attacker :( .

For me, an all out attacker should win the point in the shortest possible time.
The mentality should be "Attack, Attack, Attack" all the time. Even when the attacker is being push into defence, he/she should use the defensive stroke as a springboard for the next attacking stroke.

In summary, for an attacker's mentality I should think offensive all the way.
