What are you working on lately?

Postby ejunkie » Fri Jun 19, 2009 11:59 am

In general, what part of the game are you working on? A stroke? EJing?

I have been trying to work very hard on a backhand loop and counter and not play defense on that side. Seeing that there are very few that is willing to use teir backhand in actual game, having a weapon that my opponent doesn't is a plus!

I start by going down to a slow setup (slower blade and thin rubber) and try to get every bh loop in with control, full swing, and power.

Good post.

I have been struggling with lungs problem for like an year, and have never focused seriously to play well. I have gained some 10 pounds also. I used to practice like 30 minutes to 45 minutes on the robot every day, but this has stopped some months ago after I have got the lungs problem.

1. I'm working on improving my control over the table with my defense and offense.

2. I have little bit of maneuvering problem with the blade on the forehand. I have to fix that.

3. While I loop on the forehand, I'm not balancing my weight properly with both the legs. So, I have to get into some extreme looping with my robot to fix it.

EJing.
I think I am turning into an EJ, mostly on rubbers (not so much on blades) at the moment.

Varghese, try focus on the transition from control blocking into offense and offense back to defense.

Also, a little more arobic exercise would help a great deal, not only better tt but also weigh-wise. Just my opinions.

729FX, what brand of rubbers?

I have got back from the US Open yesterday. I felt good at the Tournament because my lungs performed little better there. My partner and I came to the q.finals of the doubles.

Thank you for your advise. I will be getting back into aerobic. I have to see the asthma specialist tomorrow and hear what he is going to say about my lungs.

Good job! Is that the open double?
What's your impression there courtside. From what I read I got the sense that the Open is gotten worst every year. This year with the strange match with Chen Weixing and all. I still like to hear something positive from you.

All brands of rubber.

Andro, Kokutaku, Xiom, Yasaka for this year. At the present moment, on Kokutaku to be exact. (2 rubbers I have tried so far, the Tulpe 007 and Blutenkirsche Tokyo 868).

Good for you to make into the Quarters this year. So next year, maybe the Finals?

Anyway do take care of your health, varghese. Especially your lungs. Is the current environment at the place that you stay affected by some kind of air polutants? If so, do wear a mask when going outdoors.
